History
The Red River Flood of 1950 took place on May 8. Over a period of four days, eight dikes gave way and the city flooded. The flood destroyed four bridges and almost 100,000 people had to be evacuated. This was the largest evacuation in Canada's history and the damage was estimated at over one billion dollars.
