Winamp is a proprietary media player written by Nullsoft, now a subsidiary of Time Warner. It is skinnable, multi-format freeware / shareware. Support of large formats of audio and video and hundreds of plugins (available to take its performance to a next level) have helped it to become one of the most used MP3 Players. Services like Napster and birth of the MP3 revolution initially helped to take this software to great popularity across the world.
