Whitney Houston Comeback
After years of drug and health problems, singer Whitney Houston appeared to be preparing for a comeback in 2008. Upon divorcing her controversial husband, Bobby Brown, in October 2006, rumors circulated that a new album was in the works.
At Billboard's "Music & Money" Symposium in March 2008, BMG CEO Clive Davis confirmed a new Houston studio album slated for Christmas that year. Houston has since made brief concert appearances in Trinidad & Tobago and London, wowing the majority in attendance who praised her voice and appearance.
In May 2008, it was announced that Britney Spears would also release her "comeback" album around the same time as Whitney's, prompting media hype regarding what would likely be a sales battle.
