White House Easter Egg Hunt

In 1878, President Rutherford B. Hayes began the traditional White House Easter Egg Hunt known as the "White House Easter Egg Roll". This is the largest public event that is held at the White House. It takes place on the South Lawn, for children ages seven and under. Tickets are required, but are free, and are passed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Slightly less than 18 thousand people enjoyed the event in 2007 and Miley Cyrus sang the United States national anthem, the Star Spangled Banner. Children and their parents were entertained by Sesame Street characters.
