On April 23, 2008, Cincinnati Reds General Manager Wayne Krivsky was fired and replaced by Walt Jocketty, the franchise named Jocketty President of baseball operations and General Manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

The team had a record of 80-82 in 2006, 70-92 in 2007, and 9-12 in 2008 under Wayne Krivsky.

Recently the Cincinnati Reds hired Manager Dusty Baker and brought in Walt Jocketty as a special advisor to the team in an effort to change the culture within the franchise.

Among the notable moves that were made by Krivsky during his tenure were the acquistion of Brandon Phillips and Bronson Arroyo and the trading away of shortstop Felipe Lopez and Reds fan favorite Austin Kearns.
