Event Info
To coincide with the hype surrounding Y2K, the WWE added Armageddon to its pay-per-view calendar in December of 1999. During the event, Stephanie McMahon turned on her father, Vince, when he faced the Triple H, thereby starting the McMahon-Helmsley Era for the following year.
Their alliance started a (storyline) power struggle between all members of the McMahon family, thus becoming WWE's own "Armageddon" in the process.
The WWE continued to keep the "Armageddon" title for the rest of its December events, except for 2001, when they changed the name to "Vengeance" after 9-11.
Memorable Matches
In 2000, six of the WWE's top stars fought each other in a Hell in a Cell match. To the amazement of fans, The Undertaker chokeslammed a dazed Rikishi from the top of the Cell into the bed of a pickup truck 20 feet below.1
Two years later, Shawn Michaels and Triple H squared off in a bloody 3 Stages of Hell Match, where both fought in a street fight, steel cage match and a ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
