W.A.S.P.

Guide Note

W.A.S.P. is a heavy metal band that had a reputation for having shocking and 'raunchy' live shows in the 1980s. The group was targeted by Tipper Gore's group the Parents Music Resource Center, an organization devoted to alerting parents about sexually explicit or violent lyrics. Ironically, the controversy increased their sales. W.A.S.P. is still active and continues to tour. On the 15th anniversary of the release of the album The Crimson Idol, the band embarked on the tour titled The Crimson Tour in October of 2007.
