Virginia Tech Report

The Virginia Tech Report is the culmination of the Virginia Tech Review Panel's inquiry into the Virginia Tech Shooting. The report was intended to review Virginia Tech University's handling of the tragedy, for the purpose of determining best practices in case of future emergencies.

6. Six of the injuries were from students jumping from windows to escape
7. The deadliest school massacre remains the 1927 bombing in Bath, Michigan, with 45 dead and 58 injured

Wrongful Death

After the release of the report, surviving family of the Virginia Tech Shooting victims pursued a wrongful death lawsuit against the State of Virginia. The reports findings helped to support plaintiff's claims that the university could have done more to inform students of the dangerous situation. On June 17, 2008, a Virginia judge approved an $11 million settlement in favor of the victim's families.²
