NHL Career
Lecavalier was drafted first overall in the 1998 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joined the Lightning for his NHL debut that same year and played all 82 regular season games with the team. In 2000, Lecavalier was named captain of the Lightning and helped the team win the Stanley Cup Championship in 2004. He played for the Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Super League during the 2004-05 NHL lockout. On June 25, 2008, Lecavalier signed a nine-year contract to stay with the Lightning.
