Racing Career
Victor Espinoza moved to the United States in 1993 to continue his horse racing career. He had his breakthrough in 2000 when he finished the year ranked seventh in the nation and earned $13.2 million. In 2002, Espinoza won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes while riding War Emblem. In 2006, Espinoza won his 2,000th career race and had his best year thus far, winning 259 races and earning over $16 million to earn a third place ranking among U.S. jockeys.1
