Vassar College
Vassar College is an institution of higher education, granting undergraduate degrees. It is one of the historical Seven Sisters Colleges.1 The others are Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Mount Holyoke College, Radcliffe College, Smith College and Wellesley College.2

Early Years
Vassar was originally established as a liberal arts college exclusively for women. Art was an integral part of Vassar student life. Founder Matthew Vassar stated that art should stand "boldly forth as an educational force." In 1969, Vassar became co-educational.6

Financial Aid
On June 7, 2007, Vassar College instituted a need blind policy for admissions.7
Athletics
Vassar College athletes practice in the Walker Field House, which also houses a swimming pool and diving well. The Weinberg Field Sports Pavillion is used for field sports such as hockey and lacrosse.8 The school's sports teams are part of the Liberty League athletic conference.
