The Vancouver Canucks play in the Northwest division of the NHL's Western Conference. Despite winning the Western Conference Championships in 1982 and 1994, they have never won the Stanley Cup.

Early History
The team was originally founded as part of the Pacific Coast Hockey League in 1945. They won the PCHL championship six times, including during their inaugural season. The Canucks attempted to join the NHL during the 1967 expansion that doubled the league from six to twelve teams, but were declined entry. The Canucks were finally granted entry into the NHL in 1970 after paying a reported $6 million franchise fee.
