The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, commonly referred to as UNC Charlotte, is a coeducational public university. The Charlotte 49ers are part of the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Philip L. Dubois became UNCC's chancellor in 2005. Before coming to Charlotte he'd served an eight-year stint as president of the University of Wyoming.
