Umar Islam
Umar Islam, formerly known as Brian Young, was one of the eight suspects in the Heathrow Aircraft Bomb Plot Trial. On September 8, 2008, the jury could not reach a decision on Islam's fate, but convicted his partners: Assad Sarwar, Tanvir Hussain and Ahmed Abdullah Ali.

Background
Following his August 10, 2006 arrest, Islam was accused of both conspiracy to commit murder and acts of terrorism.1 He had been a fairly new convert to Islam, and he had only been practicing Islam for about three years before becoming involved in the plot.
In 2008, Islam, along with four other defendants, plead guilty to the allegation of conspiring to inflict public problems.2
