US Africa Bases
President
George W. Bush visited Africa in mid-February, 2008. During the visit he denied - and called "baloney" - the rumor that the US is seeking to build-up military bases on the continent. The denial comes after the US armed forces recently created an Africa Command, known as
Africom. Many African nations have been unwilling to host the mission.
