Guide Note

The Turkish Angora is an ancient breed of cat which originated in the Ankara region of Turkey. In 1954 the first Angora arrived in the U.S. and by the mid-1960s, they were recognized by the Cat Fanciers' Association. ¹

Turkish Angora Features

Turkish angora cats have almond eyes that are slanted slightly upward and range in color from blue to emerald green. Their bodies are small and their ears are large and pointed. The Angora's head is also wedge-shaped and set on a long, slim neck. While their fur is mostly white, they can have chocolate tones and patterns on their fur. ³

Living with a Turkish Angora

Turkish angora's are elegant and extremely adaptable. They are comfortable with other animals although will assert themselves as the "alpha" pet in the house. Considered great with families and young children, they also make great companions for the elderly. ⁴
