Short History of Jeans

Jeans are made from mainly denim and were first produced as a work pant for laborers and farmers in the 1800s. By 1850 a man named Levi Strauss began selling jeans to mining camps in California and soon were called Levi's. Teaming with tailor Jacob Davis, the two began adding seams, pockets, and copper rivets to the jeans and by 1873 patented the concept. Since then jeans have become a staple in the wardrobes of men, women, and children with prices ranging anywhere from $20 - $500 for a pair depending on designer.
