The Traveling Wilburys were a musical "Supergroup" that featured the talents of George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. While they produced only two albums during their time together: Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 in 1988 and Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3 in 1990, the collaboration was well-received by the public earned them a Grammy nomination for "Album of the Year".

Orbison, Dylan, Lynne and Harrison originally got together to record a song for the B-side of George Harrison single "This Is Love". Tom Petty became involved after Harrison had left his Guitar at his house. After recording the song "Handle With Care", the group decided that the song was too good to be a B-side and went about recording a full album to support it. Although Roy Orbison died shortly after the first album was released, the success of the song and album led them to release a secon album two years later.

For the project, each of the individual members assumed Pseudonuyms. The story was that all of the members were all sons of Charles Truscott Wilbury, Sr.
