History of Torrey Pines
Torrey Pines was constructed by architect William Bell on the site of a former U.S. Navy training base in 1957. Owned and operated by the City of San Diego, Torrey Pines has two separate courses, the North Course and the South Course. Both courses offer expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. The 2008 U.S. Open took place on the South Course, which was remodeled in 2001 by golf course designer Rees Jones.
