Tommy Bowden Fired
Tommy Bowden stepped down as the head coach of the Clemson Tigers on October 13, 2008. Bowden, the son of Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden, was reportedly fired after the Tigers went 3-3 in the 2008-2009 season. Clemson officials said Tigers assistant Dabo Swinney would take over as interim head coach.1 2

Both of our children are Clemson graduates. I appreciate the opportunity Clemson University gave me and the support of the administration while I was here. I also want to thank all the players and coaches who worked so hard for this program the last 10 years. I wish Clemson University nothing but the best in the future."1
