WNBA Career
Tina Thompson was selected first by the Houston Comets in the 1997 WNBA draft.2 She has spent her entire 11-year WNBA career with the Comets. Thompson has also played for the Kumho Falcons of the Women’s Korea Basketball League, the Houston Stealth of the National Women’s Basketball League and for Spartak Moscow Region. 3 Thompson was re-signed by the Houston Comets in March, 2008.4
Career Highlights
Thompson won four consecutive WNBA championships from 1997 to 2000.5 Thompson was named to the All-WNBA First Team three times, originally in 1997. She has been named to the Second Team four additional times.3 She is only the second WNBA player in history to score 5,000 points over the course of her career.
Thompson was a member of the gold medal winning 2004 US Women's Basketball Team. She was voted as a starter for the All-Star game each season from 1999 to 2003.3.
