Life and Career
Raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Fey discovered a passion for comedy at a young age. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1992, she headed for Chicago and began studying at The Second City, where she honed her skills in improv comedy.
By 1997, she had secured a job as a staff writer for Saturday Night Live, and in 1999 she became the first female head writer for the show. She also appeared on SNL as the weekend update host.
In 2006, she launched a sitcom for NBC's fall schedule called 30 Rock. Fey stars in the show with Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin.
