Buying Guide

Thermals have a wide variety of materials. The best material depends on the activity level intended while wearing the thermals. If thermals are used for sleeping, cotton is probably a fine choice. It is durable and comfortable on the skin.

For thermal wear during any sort of exercise cotton is not the best choice. Cotton tends to hold moisture so that it evaporates and cools. This can be dangerous in cold weather. Instead look for wool or a synthetic material similar to wool, as these wick away the moisture keeping the body warm and dry. For colder weather and a lower activity level look for a heavier weight fabric.

If purchasing synthetic ask for products that have a low odor retention.
