The Royal Tenenbaums

Directed by Wes Anderson in 2001, The Royal Tenenbaums is a tragic comedy that follows a grown-up family of overachievers who've fallen on hard times. The dark comedy features an all-star cast including Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Gene Hackman, Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston, Luke Wilson, Danny Glover and Gwyneth Paltrow. When patriarch "Royal Tenenbaum" (Gene Hackman) tries to reconnect with his family - after years of neglect - the members of the Tenenbaum family all react in different ways. The movie was a critical success and earned Anderson an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay.
