The Price is Right is a popular game show where contestants guess product prices to win prizes.

The original host was Bill Cullen, from 1956 to 1965 until its cancellation. The show was picked back up in 1972 hosted by Bob Barker, who would remain for 35 years. The Price is Right has the distinction of being the longest running game show in the history of television.

The show begins in a showdown between four contestants pulled from the audience to guess the price of a prize. The contestant coming closest to the price of the prize without going over wins the prize and will continue to play a solo game. In the solo pricing game, larger prizes are awarded if the contestant guesses correctly. There is a showcase showdown at the end of the 3rd and 6th rounds, players must spin a wheel with cash denominations trying to get one dollar without going over. The person who wins each round will advance to the showcase round. In the showcase round, each of the two contestants will bid on a prize package. The contestant with the greater amount of winnings can bid on the first prize package or pass it to the other contestant. The player who comes closest to the dollar amount of the prize package without going over wins. If a contestant comes $250 or less away from the price of their package, they win both packages.
