The Harder They Come stars reggae musician Jimmy Cliff as a poor young man from the Jamaican countryside who moves to the city to make it big. The movie helped Cliff to gain notoriety as a reggae artist and has since become a cult classic.1

Plot Summary
Ivan Martin (Jimmy Cliff) leaves the safety of a rural home to seek fame and fortune in the Jamaican city of Kingston. Once he reaches the city, he becomes the victim of theft and corruption. Disillusioned, Ivan turns to a life of crime, through which he gains notoriety as a both musician and outlaw. However, his criminal lifestyle ultimately leads to his downfall.
