The Four Questions for Passover

Passover (or Pesach) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the journey of the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. The story behind the holiday is told from a book that is known as the Haggadah. It is traditional at the Passover meal, called a seder for a young child to give the first of The Four Questions for Passover. These questions provide a framework for telling the story of the Exodus.

The Four Questions:

1. Why is it that on all other nights we do not dip our food even once, but on this night we dip them twice?
2. Why is it that on all other nights during the year we eat either leavened bread or matzoh, but on this night we eat only matzoh?
3. Why is it that on all other nights we eat all kinds of vegetables, but on this night we eat bitter herbs?
4. Why is it that on all other nights we dine either sitting upright or reclining, but on this night we all recline?
