Critical Response
"...the punning-titled 'Rubber Soul' is a transitional album that bridges the gap between their earlier pop rush and their future experimentation."—Daryl Easlea, BBC3
"While the Beatles still largely stuck to love songs on 'Rubber Soul', the lyrics represented a quantum leap in terms of thoughtfulness, maturity, and complex ambiguities."—Richie Unterberger, Allmusic Guide4
"One thing to be notice about the album is that it was probably, for all intents and purposes, the first true Beatles `album,' meaning a collection of songs written together and released as a true collection of time in a studio."—Terrance Terich, Treble Magazine5
