The Bachelor

The Bachelor is a reality show on ABC where women compete for the affection of one man in a spin off of The Bachelorette. Twenty five single women enter the series in hopes of finding true love. They live in the same house together and go on group dates and single dates with the bachelor. Contestants are eliminated if they do not receive a rose from the bachelor. When four ladies are left, he goes to their hometowns to meet their friends and family, and the final two ladies meet his family. At the finale, the bachelor chooses one woman to either marry or develop a further relationship outside the house. One bachelor, Brad Womack of the 2007 season, opted not to pursue a relationship with any of the women.

The Current Bachelor

The 2008 season focuses on a British bachelor Matt Grant, from London, England. He is a global financier and business development manager. He graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a B.A. in modern history and politics, and enjoys rugby, cricket, tennis and skiing. Grant was the captain of his university's rowing team.

At the shows end, Grant dismissed Chelsea and proposed marriage to Shayne Lamas. She accepted and received the last rose.
