What If There Is a Tie
A presidential candidate must receive 270 or more electoral votes to win the election. If the electoral votes are split 269-269, the members of the U.S. House of Representatives will decide which of the two candidates will become the next president of the United States. Each state's delegation would be allowed to cast one vote. The Vice President would be determined by the Senate.6
