MMA and WCW
Tank Abbot made his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 6 in 1995. In his first fight, he defeated John Matua by knockout after 18 seconds. With his displays of brute strength and force, Tank became one of the more popular fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He managed to become a crowd favorite despite never winning the UFC title.1
Between his years as an MMA fighter, Tank Abbott wrestled for World Championship Wrestling. He was expected to feud with Bill Goldberg, but the story never developed. Instead, Tank became a comedic character. After a predetermined loss to actor David Arquette, many considered Tank's career and credibility severely damaged.2
