Taiwan Independence Declaration

Taiwan has never made an official Independence Declaration. Instead, politicians tend to favor a policy of deliberate ambiguity on the issue, tending towards support of the "status quo." This means that while Taiwan considers itself an sovereign state, as defined by the Montevideo Convention, it is reluctant to issue a formal declaration of independence from China.
