Taiwan Election
Taiwan held legislative elections on January 12, 2008—little more than two months before its presidential elections. It was split into a constituency ballot and a party-list ballot; each citizen voted once for each ballot. The Democratic Progressive Party-controlled Pan-Green Coalition was the previous majority, and the KMT-aligned Pan-Blue Coalition was the opposition. The Pan-Blue coalition won a supermajority, earning 85 seats compared to the Pan-Green's 27.
