Steve Jobs Heart Attack Hoax
A person using CNN's iReport posted that Steve Jobs had a heart attack on October 3, 2008. The story was a hoax. A representative for Apple said the rumor was false, and an investigation into the rumor was launched.1
An unnamed teenager was ultimately deemed responsible for the initial rumor, but investigators say there is no evidence that he or she profited from the situation.2

Stock Fluctuation
Apple's stock fell below $100 for a short time after the rumor spread, but it soon recovered.
