Attractions
Beaches are popular attractions in most Caribbean islands, including St. Kitts and Nevis. But there is much more to see on the islands then just the beaches. For example, both islands have many historical landmarks that are worth visiting. St. Kitts has about 200 historical sites, plantations, military sites that are still standing and historic government buildings, some of which are still in use.
Nevis has a few sites, such as the Museum of Nevis History, the remains of Hamilton Estates, which was a sugar plantation in its time and the Eden Brown Estate, which many have claimed to be haunted. Don't forget to visit the beauty of the Nevis Botanical Garden, located on an older estate and built around "re-created" ruins of the Mayans.
Events
Festivals are plentiful in St. Kitts and Nevis. One of the most popular is the Carnival, which takes place around many locations during Christmas time. It has been going on for over 30 years, and has brought locals and visitors together to celebrate the "spirit" of the nations culture and heritage.
Another well-known celebration is the St. Kitts Music Festival. It's an annual event, taking place around late June in Basseterre. It brings "renowned entertainers" from all over the world to preform for ticket holders, which is usually quite a large crowd. Past performers and artist have included Shaggy, DMX, Ashanti, Kenny Rogers and Michael Bolton, just to name a few. Tickets rates run about $50 USD and can be bought in a number of locations. Be sure to check out the main website for more information.
