Sons of Silence
The Sons of Silence are a motorcycle group who were founded in 1966. Their logo features the "1%-er" logo, which refers to the statement made by the American Motorcyclist Association in the 1950s that 99% of bikers are not trouble-makers, the other 1% are "outlaws." 1
When a group of men were arrested in connection with a plot to assassinate Barack Obama in August 2008, Fox News reported that the men were affiliated with the Sons of Silence and described them as having ties with "white supremacist" organizations.2 One of the men was reportedly wearing a Sons of Silence t-shirt. A spokesman for the Sons of Silence said the men were not affiliated with the motorcycle club.3

Obama Assassination Threat
On August 25, 2008, three adult men and one juvenile were arrested during the first night of the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver, Colorado. The men, Nathan Johnson, Shawn Adolf and Tharin Gartrell are suspected of possibly plotting an assassination of Senator Barack Obama. It has been reported that the men arrested have ties to the Sons of Silence.2
