Sonic Unleashed is a video game currently in development for the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game is to transition seamlessly between two-dimensional platforming levels, displayed in 3D, and fully-3D controllable stages. The tentative release date has been suggested as November 20, 2008.

Story

Sonic is charged with putting the earth back together after it has been shattered into pieces by Dr. Eggman. The Chaos Emeralds must be retrieved and their power activated in order to piece together the seven broken continents. A twist has been added that slows Sonic's progress as he turns into a werewolf at night.

Gameplay

The game consists of two modes: a 3D sidescroller, with two-dimensional gameplay with seamless shifts to 3D, similar to gameplay in the Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals series.
