New Platform, but Old Territory for Developers

Unlike the majority of games in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, Sonic Chronicles The Dark Brotherhood was developed by BioWare, the same company responsible for popular RPG games like Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Although Bioware has a long history of working in the RPG space, this game was their first to be developed for the DS. Studio leaders said they applied the same basic design strategy to Sonic as they did their other games, which are based on four "activity pillars."
