Sly and Robbie is a legendary partnership between two Reggae artists. drummer Lowel Charles "Sly" Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare have been performing together since the 1970s, and have created nearly 200,000 innovative songs that have been frequently sampled by other reggae artists. The formed the record label Taxi Productions in 1980. A long list of rock musicians have used them as their rhythm section including the The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, and Carlos Santana.

Sly

Lowell "Sly" Fillmore Dunbar was nicknames "Sly" based on his admiration for Sly Stone. He began drumming while he was a teen in the 1960s. He worked with various bands. At the age of 15 he decided to drop out of school and pursue music full time.

Robbie

Robert Shakespeare began playing bass guitar as a sessionman while he was in his teens. He became a member of producer Bunny Lee's band the Aggrovators in the early 1970s.
