Five-time Academy Award Best Director-nominee Sidney Lumet has been a prominent American filmmaker since the 1950s. He has directing credit on over fifty films.
In the 1970s, Lumet directed both Dog Day Afternoon and Network. Both films were critically praised and noted for their wry sense of humor, while dealing with issues such as suicide, violence and homosexuality.
