Shawn Johnson

Shawn Johnson is an American gymnast and the 2007 World All-Around Champion. She was a member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team that competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Johnson won three silver medals at the 2008 Summer Games. She won individual medals in the floor exercise and all-around events and helped the U.S. women place second in the team competition.¹

She won her first gold medal for her performance in the Women's Beam Final, the last event of the competition.²

Shawn Johnson garnered attention when she won the junior title at the U.S. Nationals in 2006. In 2007, she joined the senior division and went undefeated to win the All-Around title. Johnson also won gold in the 2007 World Championships. She is known for her power and has executed moves that few other gymnasts have been able to manage. Johnson competes in the vault, bars, floor and beam events. She was 16 years of age when she competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.¹
