Selenium
Selenium is a chemical element of the periodic table that occurs naturally in solid form. Selenium is also an essential micronutrient for animals. However, caution is advised regarding selenium ingestion, since it is toxic in large doses.1 If more than 400 milligrams of selenium are ingested in a day, selenosis may result. The symptoms of selenosis include hair loss, fatigue, garlic scent on breath, diarrhea and neurological damage.2
