Seattle Center Shooting

During the Northwest Folklife Festival, taking place in Seattle, Washington on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Seattle Center a shooting took place. It took place around 6:40pm around a drum circle. The person shooting fired twice and sent a panic throughout the festival. After the shooting the gunman tried to run, but four people saw him shoot so they held him until police showed up. No one was seriously hurt, a woman was shot in the thigh and another person was shot in one of their hands.

Northwest Folklife Festival

The Northwest Folklife Festival is an annual festival taking place in Seattle taking place over the Memorial Day weekend. There are usually over 250,000 people attending this festival, which features ethnic music, arts and crafts. It is one of the largest festivals in North America.
