Sean Bean is an English actor. He has performed on stage, radio, television, and film and has starred as Richard Sharpe in the Sharpe television series, Boromir in The Lord of the Rings Film Series and as the hitchhiker in the 2007 remake of The Hitcher.

Life and Career

Sean Bean was born in Sheffield, England. His father owned a steel plating enterprise and his mother was a secretary. Their family lived in relative comfort as a result of the father's successful business.

Bean won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and after graduation began to work on the stage and in minor parts on TV. His big break in England came when he starred in the Sharpe TV series. After that, he began to be noticed by international audiences when he played the villain in Golden Eye. He also gained mass media attention for his portrayal of Boromir in the The Lord of the Rings Film Series.

In 2008 he is set to star in A Woman of No Importance opposite Sienna Miller.
