Save XP

Save XP refers to an online petition and campaign to keep Microsoft from discontinuing their popular Windows XP operating system. I March of 2008, Microsoft announced that Windows XP would not be available for purchase after June of the same year. Under the stated schedule, it would not be available as the default operating system on new PCs either, with the only exception being laptops and UMPCs like the Asus Eee PC. This prompted tech news site InfoWorld to start an online petition urging Microsoft to keep Windows XP on store shelves indefinitely. Much of the backlash is attributable to high levels of customer dissatisfaction with Microsoft's more contemporary OS, Windows Vista. Many Windows users have expressed disappointment in many of Vista's features, including memory management, internet speed, and various other features. The authors and signatories of the petition want to keep XP on the market, both as stand-alone software and as an option for new PCs. Microsoft has not responded to the petition. Fast Facts:
