Background
Though clogs are often associated with Holland, they have roots throughout Northern Europe. Much like blue jeans in the US, clogs have roots in farm labor, and became an urban fashion in the 20th century. In the US, Scandinavian clogs first became fashionable in the 1970s, and have remained a staple of casual women's fashion ever since.
