Guide Note: Harvard political scientist Samuel P. Huntington wrote a 1993 article, "The Clash of Civilizations?," in which he claimed that post-Cold War international disputes would involve cultural conflicts - rather than opposing political ideologies. Highly controversial, some interpret the article as a road map for the current clash between fundamentalist Islam and Western values.
