Early Life

Ryan Matthew Church was born in Santa Barbara, California on October 14, 1978. He would attend the University of Nevada, Reno. He would be drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 14th round of the 2000 Major League Baseball draft. He would be traded to the Montreal Expos in 2004.

Pro Career

Church would make his major league debut on August 21, 2004 with the Montreal Expos. He would thrive in his first season with the Expos. Before being injured, he was batting .325 and considered a legitimate candidate for Rookie of the Year. He would struggle early in 2006, being sent down to the minors, he would finish the season strongly with the big league club. In 2007, he would establish himself as an everyday major league baseball player.
