Robert Murray

Robert Murray is the CEO of Murray Energy, a mining corporation based in Cleveland, Ohio. He entered the national spotlight in August 2007 when six miners were trapped at the Crandall Canyon Mine, of which Murray is part-owner.

Early Life

Robert Murray comes from a line of miners that extends back four generations. He began mining at the age of sixteen and has experienced two accidents while on the job.

Mining Company

Marry attended Ohio State University and after graduation began working at North American Coal Corporation (NACC). After being fired from NACC, he started his own company, Murray Energy. The company has grown to become one of the largest independent coal mine operators in the United States.
