Rick Sutcliffe
Former
MLB pitcher and current
ESPN analyst,
Rick Sutcliffe went to the doctors a week ago for what was suppose to be a routine
colonoscopy screening that people age 50 and over undergo. He had polyps removed during the procedure and while on a trip to
Tampa to do a game for
ESPN he received 8 messages via his cell phone from the doctor office's nurse. Since finding out about the cancer Rick has undergone two minor surgical procedures to see what the next steps should be. He was scheduled to meet with radiologists on March 13, 2008 and his chemotherapy team the next day. He will have chemo treatments for between five and six weeks and then will undergo a major surgical procedure that will take five to six hours. He is remaining optimistic about the potential outcome.
